Laura Branigan died at her home in East Quogue, New York on Thursday. She was 47.

She had been complaining about a headache for two weeks, her brother said, but she didn’t see any doctors. She died of a brain aneurysm.

Branigan was nominated for four Grammy Awards in her career, one for her breakout chart-topping single, “Gloria.”

She released seven albums and contributed to several film soundtracks including Flashdance.

She started her career touring as a backup singer for Canadian legend Lenoard Cohen.

She released albums starting in 1982, but none were as big as her first one, self-titled.

Her husband, Lawrence Kruteck, died in 1996 and she stopped touring soon after.

But in recent months, she began writing new material.

Branigan is survived by her mother, two brothers and a sister. A funeral is to be held on Monday.
