‘Scared’ Courtney Love Pleads Not Guilty
Courtney Love, one of the most recognized, yet troubled, rock stars, was in court Friday facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Love pleaded not guilty, and now faces a preliminary hearing starting October 7 in Los Angeles.
Love is free on $150,000 bail. She missed her original court date last month when it was discovered that she was in hospital in New York. An arrest warrant was issued for her arrest.
Love told reporters after that she was “scared” of the whole court proceedings and that she just wants to play music.
Love is accused of assaulting a woman with a bottle and flashlight at the home of one of her former boyfriends. She is barred from coming within 100 metres of her alleged victim, as ordered by the judge Friday.
The former Hole singer and widow of Kurt Cobain also faces several other charges in numerous court cases, forcing her to cancel her summer tour.
A trial has been set for September 30, where she faces felony charges of illegal possession of prescription painkillers.
