Julie Andrews Sings Again in New Movie
For the first time in about seven years, Julie Andrews has sung for a public performance. In The Princess Diaries 2, hitting theaters this weekend, Andrews sings a duet with rising star Raven.
In 1997, she performed on Broadway in Victor Victoria. Then she underwent throat surgery, which damaged her vocal chords. She won $30 million in a malpractice lawsuit against the doctors, but she was left unable to sing.
Somehow, though not as powerful as she performed before in such movies as Marie Poppins, Andrews performs a song called “Your Crowning Glory.”
The sequel to Princess Diaries also stars Anne Hathaway. Andrews plays Queen Clarisse.
