King Kong Actress Fay Wray Dies
Fay Wray was featured in over 100 films, but will always be known as the woman King Kong lifted to the top of the Empire State Building. Wray was 96 years old when she died in New York Sunday night.
Her portrayal of Ann Darrow in 1933’s King Kong earned her a place in Hollywood History. Born in 1907 in Calgary, Alberta, she was given a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame just this year in June.
She was unable to attend the ceremonies in Toronto because of her health. She was present at her grandson’s wedding a few weeks ago in L.A.
She died in her Manhattan apartment. No cause of death has been made official, but a friend told the AP that she “just kind of gave out.”
She leaves behind two daughters and a son.
