Who would have predicted that 2.3 million votes from across the country would send Joshua Seller back to Brigden?

The eight Canadian Idol finalists began the show with a group tribute to rock ‘n roll consisting of a medley of seasoned hits including “Old Time Rock ‘n Roll”, “I Love Rock ‘n Roll”, and, of course, Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” The dance choreography was quite impressive, as the Idol contestants jumped up and down, tapping and clapping to the classic tunes.

As usual, John Dore was welcomed entertainment with his short video teaching the Idol contestants to be more like rock stars. His “Spinal Tap” performance, as Zack called it, was complete with long hair, bare chest and zany instructions.

The results of Canada’s Tuesday night voting were surprising. Elena, Joshua, and Shane were sent to centre stage as this week’s bottom three. When questioned by Ben regarding the recent results, Zack was quick to offer advice, saying, “Be real.” Sass felt Elena should be the first to return to the safety of the couches, and Farley stressed the importance of song selection at this point in the competition. Jake had good things to say about every competitor in question. He said Shane “stepped up,” Josh had “great singing,” and Elena “shouldn’t be up there.”

Elena was the first to be announced safe for another week. Then Joshua got the bad news that he had received the lowest number of votes. I believe Canada made a mistake this time. Joshua sang well. His performance was genuine.

After Joshua was told he was the next person to be eliminated from Canadian Idol, he gushed about the other contestants, and sang “Iris” to the people of Canada like he meant every word of it. In the song, Joshua sang “I just want you to know who I am.” Sadly, we will not learn more about him in the coming weeks.
