Bana Not Bond After All
Comingsoon.net has confirmed that Eric Bana (?The Hulk?, ?Troy?) rumored to be the next 007, is in fact not going to take over the franchise reigns from latest Bond, Pierce Brosnan. Heavily filtered rumors spread rapidly throughout the media that Bana, having never even been approached by Bond distributor MGM, was a lock to fill the role after Brosnan?s departure.
UK tabloid News of the World said the actor was negotiating with the series producers and that he would take over the role from Pierce Brosnan and begin filming later this year. “Eric is the guy they want but he has a reputation for being demanding,” an “insider” said. News of the World went on to say that “they want to modernize Bond and turn him into a youthful, suave and modern hero to compete with the likes of Spider-Man and Keanu (Reeves) in the Matrix.”
Brosnan told Entertainment Weekly last week that he was done with the franchise after four films. “I’ve said all I’ve got to say on the world of James Bond. Bond is another lifetime, behind me.”
Who is next still remains a mystery.
