Dave Chappelle Becomes Very Rich in Return to Comedy Central
Dave Chappelle will continue starring in “Chappelle’s Show” on Comedy Central for at least two more years. The comedian signed a whopping deal worth up to $50 million. That’s a hell of a lot of money for the Half Baked star, bitch!
Chappelle is best known for portraying such characters as Prince and Rick James on the show. He will play James in a movie based on the rocker’s life.
Much of the money, according to Reuters, could come from DVD sales. Chappelle not only stars in the show, but he is also the co-executive producer, writer, and co-writer.
A development deal for his production company, Pilot Boy Prods, will also be established.
Lauren Corrao, Comedy Central’s senior vice president of original programming, called the signing a “top priority,” according to E.
Several reports indicate that Universal and FX tried to lure Chappelle away from Viacom-owned Comedy Central, even offering him an 8-figure deal.
The show is nominated for three Emmy Awards.
The new season begins in early 2005.
