Turns out Catherine Zeta-Jones’ alleged stalked tried to kill herself in her cell Wednesday night. Earlier reports said Dawnette Knight took two sleeping pills so she could get a decent night’s rest in jail, but her attorney said in court Friday that she tried to commit suicide.

The lawyer, Richard Herman, said Knight is not fit to continue with legal proceedings. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg suspended the preliminary hearing and ordered that Knight go through a physiological examination.

“These [criminal] proceedings do not go away” she said.

On Wednesday, Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas testified in court. Zeta-Jones read letters allegedly written by the accused who wrote that she wanted to gruesomely kill the Oscar winning actress. She is said to be obsessed with Douglas, and once got near the couple when she attended a book signing in Toronto for Kirk Douglas, Michael’s father, which the couple attended.

Shockingly, Herman blames the attempted suicide on Zeta-Jones. “What’s actually happened is that Catherine Zeta-Jones has driven Dawnette Knight to attempt suicide, and the real blood is on her hands.”
