Zeta-Jones Stalker Case to Resume Today
Thursday’s hearing in the case of actress Catherine Zeta-Jones’ alleged stalker was delayed until Friday, when a judge ruled that Dawnette Knight, the accused, was too tired.
After Wednesday’s hearing, which saw both Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas take the stand for a combined four hours, Knight was found on the floor of her jail cell. Guards had a difficult time waking her up, and took her to a hospital. She was later returned to her cell, and then attended the start of Thursday’s hearing, but she could not stay awake.
Knight’s lawyer. Richard Herman, said she bought two sleeping pills from someone in Los Angeles County Jail because she wanted a good night’s sleep. They apparently worked too well.
Herman also denied reports that Knight had tried to commit suicide.
Friday’s preliminary hearing is being held to find out if enough evidence is available to go to trial.
