Who got the “Cheerio!” this week? We didn’t find out until after the idols performed a medley of British hits including “My Girl”, and the Kinks’ “You Really Got Me.” The highlight of this performance, however, was clearly the portion in which Idol favourites Jacob and Kalan stormed the stage with an impressive dance and vocal sequence. They shined with the true British rock tune “Satisfaction.” Funny man John Dore appeared on the stage appropriately dressed in his tennis whites after he and the Idols took a trip to the Rexall Centre. As usual, his wacky film clip cut the tension of the evening.

What must the Idols be thinking as they sit on the white leather couch during Thursday night’s results show anxiously awaiting their fate? Perhaps “Help! I need somebody” or “Pressure, pushing down on me.”

Two million votes from Canadians across the country determined the week’s bottom three-Shane Wiebe, Manoah Hartmann, and Kaleb Simmonds. While I believe Shane and Manoah’s performances merited a spot in the bottom three, Kaleb’s standing was a definite surprise. The judges seemed taken aback with Canada’s choice. When Ben asked the judges what they thought of the results, Sass and Jake were evasive. However, Farley responded to Ben’s questioning as to whether he felt Canada made a mistake with a simple but direct “Yeah.” Zack voiced some deep advice, saying “Everybody’s just got to show who they are.” He also expressed irritation with Canada’s choice forcing Kaleb into the bottom three by passionately stating “The third person is just wonderful, and whether Canada gets it or not, I don’t care.”

After the judges’ commentary, Kaleb was first to retreat to the couch, safe to compete in next week’s performance show. It was then announced that Manaoh was the competitor who received this week’s lowest number of votes. Although she was deserving of this elimination, Manoah did accomplish something in becoming part of this year’s coveted top ten. With an emotional goodbye, Manaoh addressed her fans, saying “Never, ever, ever give up on yourself.”
