Apple and Motorola are partnering again, but this time it’s music related. As Apple looks to expand its dominance in the MP3 market, Motorola cell phones will be the first to support a version of iTunes that will allow users to play their purchased songs right on their phone.

CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs says, “The mobile phone market with 1.5bn subscribers expected worldwide by the end of 2004 is a phenomenal opportunity to get iTunes in the hands of even more music lovers around the world and we think Motorola is the ideal partner to kick this off.”

iTunes will become the standard music player on all next generation motorola mobile phones, allowing users to take with them as much as 1GB worth of songs through the use of memory cards.

“Being able to transfer songs you’ve purchased from iTunes to Motorola mobile handsets expands the market reach for both of us and derives new revenue for customer, delivering an amazing music experience to millions of wireless users,” says Ed Zander, chairman and CEO of Motorola.
