DVD Review: Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
Lindsay Lohan started her inclination towards taking over Hilary Duff’s status as the Queen of Teens with the release of “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.” Before it hit theatres earlier this year, Lohan was known most for being the actress who portrayed the twins in The Parent Trap and Jamie Lee Curtis’ co-star in the Freaky Friday remake.
Since then, she starred in the mega-hit Mean Girls and just signed a whopping $7.5 million movie deal. She went from being the actress nobody ever heard of to being one of Hollywood’s youngest yet biggest stars in a matter of months.
Confessions is the true beginning to Lohan’s career. It’s the first movie where she has to shine without silly overshadowing storyline gimmicks. While it is your average teen flick with a fairly predictable story, Lohan makes it not just worth watching, but an enjoyable movie.
Lohan stars as Lola, whose family moves from the glitzy New York City to a dull Jersey suburb. Her dreams of making it big as an actress are crushed when she is forced to relocate to her new culturally dim accommodation.
The DVD contains the music video for “That Girl,” performed by none other than Lindsay Lohan. Much like Duff, Lohan has turned into a professional singer. Other features include deleted scenes, a behind the scenes look, and audio commentary.
If the only reason you watch this movie is to see Lohan at her best, it is worth the effort.
