CSI Star Overslept, Wants Job Back
Might George Eads be pulling a George Costanza?
Eads, the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star, was fired by CBS chief Leslie Moonves last week after, as Moonves claims, Eads asked for -? no, demanded — a raise. Moonves says a contact is a contact and Eads was sent packing. Jorja Fox was also fired for the same reason.
Now Eads is saying it’s just a misunderstanding. CBS thought Eads didn’t show up to work because he was protesting not getting the raise he wanted. Eads says he just overslept, a whopping three and a half hours late. Who oversleeps that much?
He says when he called in to say he was on his way, CBS said not to bother.
“I’ve apologized nine ways to Sunday. It’s a big misunderstanding, straight up. I want all this to work out. CSI is a part of who I am,” he said to a gathering of television critics.
All this sounds too familiar. Remember on Seinfeld, one of the earlier episodes, when George decided to quit his job. He then realized he had nothing better to do, and no better job, so he returned to his old job, claiming he was just kidding. “Oh that? You believed that?” Perhaps Eads thought the worst that could happen was to get denied his raise, but then when he was terminated… “Oh that? Nah, I just slept in!” That?s all hypothetical, of course.
