Jimmy Buffet Outsells Usher, Banks, Roots
The powerful hip-hop movement was not enough to tackle Jimmy Buffet. The mellow rocker sold 238,600 copies of ?License to Chill,? his first number one album in his career, which has lasted through four decades.
Usher?s ?Confessions? continued its rampage, earning the number two position with 125,000 copies sold. Last week?s chart topper, G Unit?s Lloyd Bank sold 110,000 copies of ?The Hunger for More? to earn the rapper the third slot.
?The Tipping Point? by the Roots entered the charts at number four, selling 109,000 copies/
Gretchen Wilson’s “Here for the Party” and Avril Lavigne’s “Under My Skin” round out the top 5.
Buffet?s last album, Far Side of the World, entered the charts at number five in 2002.
