Trey Parker and Matt Stone are notorious for their in-your-face humor and blatant political and Hollywood satirizing, and their latest film is no exception. “Team America: World Police” is tentatively due to hit theaters as soon as this fall, however, production on the film does not involve the actors themselves, rather marionettes. “Marioination,” a style of special effects used in the 1960s, is the form in which Parker and Stone chose to produce the film.

Matt Stone told Variety, “I hate these new Hollywood films that are CGI-driven. Trey and I loved that ‘Thunderbirds’ series because of the artistry of the marionettes. It’s amazing that a studio would make a movie out of and take out the only thing that was about the series.” Stone added, “What we wanted to do was a send-up of these super important huge action movies that Jerry Bruckheimer makes.” The subtle joke here is that all actors are puppets. This will probably piss off everyone in town, and might well be our swan song.”

The film is said to have musical numbers similar to that of “South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut” combined with hilarious Hollywood action movie satire.
