Following in J-Lo’s footsteps, it appears that after a quickie marriage earlier this year, Britney Spears is ready to do it all again ? but she is taking it slow this time and getting engaged before she actually ties the knot.

Entertainment Tonight reported on Friday that the 22-year-old Spears has confirmed her engagement to boyfriend of several months, backup dancer Kevin Federline.

Federline, who is 26 years old, has been seen with Britney as she recovers from a knee injury and arthroscopic surgery that ended her Onyx Hotel Tour that was to take her around the country.

The marriage, when and if it happens, will not only make Spears a wife but also the stepmom to Federline’s children with actress Shar Jackson ? a two-year-old and a another child that could arrive at any moment. Jackson was apparently not pleased with reports of the Spears-Federline engagement in earlier reports and said she hoped the two were prepared to baby-sit.
