Usher and Avril Lavigne were no match this week for a bunch of music veterans. Velvet Revolver, the “supergroup” featuring former members of Stone Temple Pilots and Guns N’ Roses, see their debut album, “Contraband,” entering the charts at number one.

The album sold 256,000 copies, almost 100,000 more than Usher’s “Confessions.” Lavigne’s “Under My Skin” slips to number three.

Gretchen Wilson’s “Here for the Party” and Prince’s “Musicology” round out the top 5.
