Yesterday, The Vines announced they were cancelling their North American tour and would give up their coveted opening spot for Incubus. Immediately, speculation began as to the “real reason” of the cancellation. Many thought that the irreverent band was breaking up.

Not so says the band.

“The decision has been made to take a break to deal with the mental and physical exhaustion issues the band currently face,” they said in a statement. “The Vines have not broken up. The band would like to sincerely apologize to Incubus, our fans and friends. We would like to thank everyone close to us for the continued support.”

The Vines have been known for gigs that do not go as planned. Most recently, bassist Patrick Matthews walked out of a Sydney radio station show for no apparent reason.
