Oops! Britney Spears Injures Knee, Undergoes Surgery
Britney Spears underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in New York on Wednesday, after injuring her knee last night while shooting her latest music video.
Spears was rushed to the hospital after she injured her knee filming “Outrageous” in Queens, New York. The song, according to ET is the official song from the upcoming “Catwoman” movie, starring Halle Berry.
Spears? Jive label said that the pop princess had just performed a dance routine with Snoop Dogg on Roosevelt Avenue in Queens when she fell to the ground after her knee gave out. She could not get up and her bodyguard then reportedly carried the pop star to a waiting vehicle where she was transported to the hospital, according to Entertainment Tonight. A spokesperson for Britney said that arthroscopic surgery was needed after an MRI revealed “floating cartilage.”
There is no immediate word on Spears’ condition after the surery.
Spears’ knee has brought her trouble in the past, most recently in March of this year, when the Associated Press reported that she suffered a knee injury during her concert tour, forcing her to cancel a New York performance in mid-March. In 1999, at the start of her career, Spears underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove a piece of torn cartilage from her knee after she injured it on the set of her video for the song, “Sometimes,” from her hugely successful debut album, “…Baby One More Time.”
Spears is currently on the road with her “The Onyx Hotel Tour 2004.” Her next scheduled date is June 22, 2004 at the Meadows Music Theatre in Hartford, CT.
