George Lopez to Host Latin Grammy Awards
The “Other Lopez” in Hollywood made headlines today too, and it was definitely not because of rumors of a pregnancy or marriage to a Latin heartthrob.
Comedian George Lopez, who jokingly refers to himself as “GLo, The Other Lopez,” will return to Los Angeles’ landmark Shrine Auditorium to host the fifth annual Latin Grammy Awards on September 1. The actor/comedian hosted last year’s awards show in Miami.
Lopez, 43, is the co-creator, writer, producer and star of “George Lopez,” which can be seen every Friday as part of ABC?s TGIF line-up.
His first book and official autobiography, “Why You Crying?: My Long, Hard Look at Life, Love, and Laughter,” was released on May 25 and currently sits at Number 20 on the New York Times Best-seller list. The touching book chronicles Lopez’ rise to fame and the effects of his childhood growing up poor and without a father figure in the San Fernando Valley.
Lopez can also be seen this month on Showtime in his hilarious comedy act of the same title.
The Latin Grammy Awards will be broadcast on CBS on September 1 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). In addition to its U.S. broadcast, the show will be broadcast in approximately 100 countries worldwide. Nominations will be announced July 14.
