When JC Chasez started working on his solo album, he decided the most important thing was not airplay, sales, or critical praise. He made “Schizophrenic” exactly the way he wanted. Unlike his ‘N Sync bandmate Justin Timberlake, Chasez chose not to go to the sure-hit producers, but rather to find a unique sound in himself.

Chasez combines pop and dance, creating an electro-vibe. He calls the album “a musical journey.”

However, promoting his solo album hasn’t been easy. First, he was axed from the Pro Bowl (NFL’s All Star game) halftime show because of the Janet Jackson-Super Bowl backlash. Then there were complaints about his album cover (which sees him tied up at a mental institution). And now he has to deal with radio stations finding his new single “All Day Long I Dream About Sex” unsuitable to play.

Yet Chasez is thankful for the opportunity to create a solo album, and if he doesn’t get back together with ‘N Sync soon, he may just make another.

JC Chasez took some time to speak with andPOP before playing a show in Toronto. Watch the interview to hear about the album, touring, the new single, and the possibility of an ‘N Sync reunion.
