Creed Split Up, Former Members Form New Band Minus Scott Stapp
Some bands have such high critical praise, but never end up a commercial success. Then there’s Creed. After 8 years, Scott Stapp and the boys are calling it quits.
Despite selling 24 million albums worldwide, the Creed members were never media darlings. They were criticized for being rip-offs of Pearl Jam and Nirvana.
After the announcement, everyone but singer and songwriter Stapp announced that they were forming a new band, with another lead singer. Guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips, and former bassist Brian Marshall have formed Alter Bridge, with former Mayfield Four singer Myles Kennedy. Their first album is expected in August.
Stapp is working on a solo album with the Tea Party and will have solo material included on a soundtrack of music inspired by the film “The Passion of the Christ.”
