Christina Aguilera was forced to cancel her summer tour, she announced on MTV’s TRL Thursday.

Aguilera was scheduled to begin a 29-date tour with Chingy on May 13. She has been suffering from vocal strain and was advised to rest. The dates will not be made up.

Instead, Aguilera will use the time to write for her next album.

“I’m going to take a minute, give my voice a rest and concentrate on making the next move, the biggest and the best yet,” she said.
