Legendary rapper Rakim was arrested Tuesday night before he was to take the stage with Ghostface and Talib Kweli in New York, according to MTV.

Slick Rick announced the arrest onstage. Royce Da 5′9″ also performed.

Police could not confirm to MTV the reason for the arrest.
