New Found Glory Answer Your Questions: Part 1

Posted by Adam Gonshor on April 21st, 2004

New Found Glory hope to launch into super-stardom mode when they release “Catalyst,” their fourth album, on May 18.

andPOP asked fans to send in their questions for NFG, and we now present to you some of their witty, yet sincere, answers.

Plus, check back to andPOP soon to read Part 2, where even more of your questions are answered!

1. What do you think you’ll be doing by the time you reach the ripe age of forty?
-EvilLipqIoss

Chad: Viagra

Jordan: Hanging out

Chad: We?ll be still in the band touring on the reunion tour

Ian: About that time REO Speedwagon will be 80 so we?ll tour with them.

2. When you began writing songs for Catalyst, did you have any goals in mind, such as musical growth?
-Jason Novick

Jordan: No, we wrote whatever came out.

Ian: We did it the same way we usually do. Chad writes the music. Steve the writes the lyrics and the rest of us hang out and play video games ’til it?s done.

3. You have mentioned that the new CD is ‘harder’ than previous CDs, and I was wondering in what other ways will Catalyst differ from older CDs?
-Eve Thomas

Ian: It has different songs titles and different songs with different artwork. There are 14 songs on it instead of the normal 12. It?s more of a rock record than a pop punk record. You have your slow songs, your mid-paced songs, and your fast songs. There are a couple we?ve steered away from what we normally do ’cause it felt right.

Jordan: We don?t want to gip our fans by giving them the same record three times.

4. With all this word about this mystery person known as Blanco Meow, well I heard from a source that it really is Steve Klein’s cat is this true? What is the deal with Blanco Meow?
-Mark Evans

Ian: Steve Klein?s cat was named after the real Blanco. If we could tell you, we?d have to kill you.

Chad: We haven?t met Blanco yet but if the CIA and FBI found out we were talking about him right now we?d be in a heap of trouble.

Ian: Look out for Blanco?s brother, Swello Peeko.

5. In “All Downhill From Here” you say “catalyst you insist to pull me down.” Are you saying that change exists to pull you down? What exactly does that mean?
-Jason N.

Steve: ?Catalyst? is a person, it?s not the name of someone but it?s talking about someone in particular. Catalyst is that person that we?re talking about in that song.
