Usher is the King of R&B.

His new album, “Confessions,” had the highest first-week total of any R&B artist, selling an astounding 1.1 million copies this week.

The album, which instantly hit the platinum plateau, had the seventh highest debut of any artist since the Soundscan system was developed thirteen years ago.

“Confessions” easily beat the 15th “Now” compilation, which sold 343,000 copies to end up in second. Guns N’ Roses’ Greatest Hits, Carl Thomas’ “Let’s Talk About It,” and Norah Jones’ “Feels Like Home,” round out the top 5.
