A bone-marrow drive on the campus of Spelman College, a women’s college in Atlanta, was cancelled because Nelly was scheduled to make an appearance.

The women were upset about the way he portrays females in his music videos.

“Spelman is concerned about the negative images of women in popular culture, particularly the misogynistic lyrics and images that constantly portray women in a sexual nature,” Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Zenobia Hikes, told MTV.

Students from Spelman and neighbouring men’s college Morehouse were organizing a demonstration on campus Friday, according to MTV. When Nelly’s foundation, 4 Sho 4 Kids, was informed, it cancelled the drive.

Nelly has been involved with the drives since his sister, Jackie Donahue, was diagnosed with Leukemia last summer.
