Avril Lavigne is upset about comments she read that came from the mouth of actor-turned-singer Hilary Duff.

“They quoted Hilary Duff saying, ‘Avril needs to appreciate her fans more and blah, blah, blah.’ I’m like, excuse me? First off, it’s not even true. I never said that. And second, who the hell cares what she has to say about my fans? Whatever. Hilary Duff’s such a goody-goody, such a mommy’s girl,” Lavigne tells Newsweek.

She has never met Duff, but in a mocking tone, she told the magazine that “I’m sure she’s really nice and really sweet. I’m sure she’s all smiles.”

The issue hits stand this week, while Lavigne’s second album, “Under My Skin,” is due out May 25.
