Beenie Man was in serious condition after being involved in a car accident Thursday morning.

The Grammy winning dancehall artist suffered broken ribs and a broken nose, and had emergency surgery Thursday afternoon to stop internal damage. He is expected to be in hospital for at least three weeks.

The injuries are not life threatening, a spokesperson told Billboard.

Beenie Man was driving to a dancehall party in Jamaica when his Hummer overturned, MTV reports. Police could not say what caused the crash, according to the Associated Press.
