Britney Spears married a childhood friend Saturday morning in Las Vegas, according to two reports. However, a source told People Magazine’s web site that the wedding was a joke that went too far.

The reports, which also appeared in the Las Vegas Review Journal newspaper, say Spears, 22, married Jason Alexander, 22, at the Little White Wedding Chapel on the Vegas Strip.

Spears wore jeans and a baseball cap and was walked down the aisle by a bellman from the Palms Casino Hotel, reports People.

The source told People that Spears plans to annul the wedding.

The Review obtained a marriage licence, which was granted to the couple on Saturday.

A representative for the Little White Wedding Chapel refused to comment when reached by andPOP, saying “all our weddings are confidential and private.”

Clark County Deputy Marriage Commissioner Joyce Singer was not as tight-lipped, telling the New York Post that, “We just found out that they got married at the Little White Wedding Chapel. The reverend came by and dropped off their marriage certificate.”
