MarWare Case Review
3G CEO Classic Case
3G SportSuit Convertible
There was once a time, not too long ago, that finding a decent iPod case was a tough challenge. Today the iPod is the top selling MP3 player in the digital music market and finding accessories is as easy as going into Best Buy and finding a PC; they?re everywhere. Over the past few weeks andPop has received some of the best cases available for the iPod. We want you to learn which iPod case will best suit your needs.
MarWare Inc (www.marware.com) has all the iPod cases you need. Their inventory stretches from neoprene cases ($19.95 USD) to specially designed sports cases ($39.95 USD). We got two great cases from MarWare; the first is the 3G CEO Classic Case ($34.95 USD) and the second, the SportSuit Convertible ($39.95 USD).
3G CEO Classic 5/5:
$34.95 (USD)
This awesome case is made out of 100% leather. It comes with a removable cover and belt clip.
One problem with many of the third generation iPod cases is that many of them do not line up with the iPod buttons correctly. This is because each iPod model has different size measurements. With this case, I found that after a day or two of use, once I got it worked in, it lined up perfectly with my 3G 15GB iPod.
This case features a plastic covering over the iPod?s scratch-prone screen but leaves the buttons and scroll wheel open so you have easy access your iPod. The case also has an opening at the bottom so that you can attach it to the FireWire cable going to your computer.
Another great attribute to this case is at the same time it keeps your iPod safe from minor damage but keeps it looking pretty with its sleek black leather look.
Pros:
- Aesthetically pleasing
- Keeps iPod safe from minor damage
- Full access to all of the iPod?s controls
- Full access to the hold button and FireWire connector
- Keeps iPod screen from being scratched
- Lines up nicely
- Removable belt clip (assorted belt clips available for purchase at www.marware.com)
- Space to put headphones or something small in the front part of the removable cover.
Cons:
- When the removable cover is not in use, the top (headphone input/hold button) of the iPod is exposed
- The opening on top of the cover is a tight squeeze to get your headphones/remote into your iPod.
All in all there are such few cons with this case and so many benefits to using it. Compared to other cases with the same qualities it is fairly priced, nice looking and great for casual use.
3G SportSuit Convertible 4/5:
$39.95 (USD)
MarWare Inc.?s SportSuit convertible is new approach to most other sporty iPod cases, which generally feature some type of system that goes around your waste. This case is made out of high quality neoprene and is great for the gym. All you have to do is slide the patented armband through the back of the iPod case and attach it around your arm. It is a bit tricky to get it around your arm at first, especially with only one hand, but you will get the hang of it quickly.
When I used this case at the gym I found it didn?t get in my way (especially with free weights) though I had assumed it would. One problem with this case that is consistent with most other sport cases I have seen for the iPod is that you have little access to your iPod itself (when around your arm (or your waste with other cases)) and have to rely on your remote. What does this mean? Well for one, if you do not have a remote, that could make control pretty difficult. It also makes it hard to switch play-lists, something I do repeatedly.
The great thing about this case is that once you remove the armband you can use this case just like any other normal iPod case. It comes with a removable cover that you can store your headphones in if needed and removable belt clips. Like the 3G CEO classic there is a plastic covering to cover your screen from ugly little scratches and other irritations. The case is easy to get your iPod into but keeps it safe from falling out and lines up fairly well with the iPod buttons.
Pros:
- Original design/concept
- Available in different colors to suit your personal preference
- Removable cover
- Plastic cover protects screen
- Arm band to use at the gym, on your bike or any other activity
- Access to the FireWire connection on your iPod while in case
- Removable clips
Cons:
- When using the armband, access to the iPod is limited
- Doesn?t always line up exactly with the iPod?s buttons
The iPod is ideal for gym or sport use with its industry leading skip protection and all of your favorite music so conveniently available to you to keep you energized at the gym. This case simply makes it much more of a reason for you to bring your iPod to the gym. The case keeps your iPod steady on your arm instead of moving around in your pocket so it doesn?t get in your way.
You can decide between one of six colors that expresses you the most. Best of all you can use this case just like a regular case when you?re not at the gym. Or you can buy it along with the case you already have to use it specifically for the gym or sports. You wont regret it.
