Label Officially Drops ‘Murder’ from Name
Hip Hop/Rap
Posted on December 3rd, 2003 by Adam Gonshor
The company formerly known as “Murder Inc.” will now be known simply as “The Inc.”
The head of the label, Irv Gotti, said the change was due to people fussing over the word “murder,” not fussing over his artist roster, which includes Ja Rule and Ashanti.
“All of these big records, and people would still come back and focus on the negative word
‘murder’,” he said at a news conference.
The name change had been rumoured for the past few weeks.
