Guarini Reportedly Dropped from RCA
Selling over 100,000 albums was not good enough for Justin Guarini’s record label. RCA dropped the American Idol runner-up, according to Launch.
Guarini’s self-titled CD debuted at number 20, selling 54,000 copies in its first week, and sizzled off after that. In comparison, Kelly Clarkson, the Idol winner, sold 297,000 copies in her first week. Clay Aiken, the runner-up the next season, sold a whopping 613,000 copies in its first week.
Guarini was absent from the American Idol Christmas special last week, even though he was included on the Christmas CD.
