Hilary Duff has signed a comedy pilot deal with CBS, officially ending her relationship with Disney.

CBS outbid several other networks vying for the 16-year-old’s talents, and will develop the pilot for the 2004-2005 season. The Hollywood Reporter is comparing the type of show to “Family Ties.”

Duff became one of the most recognized teenagers when she starred in “Lizzie McGuire” on the Disney Channel for two seasons. She also starred in the movie based on the show. Duff ended her reign with Disney when they couldn’t agree to terms for a movie sequel.

Duff plans to tour next month in support of her debut album, “Metamorphosis.”
