Ashlee Simpson is recording an album in a studio she built in her apartment.

She is working with Sugar Ray drummer Stan Frazier and producer Steve Fox on the album, reports MTV.

Simpson signed to Geffen Records in June.

Don?t expect her sound to sound like her sister?s, Jessica.

“We’ve always, always been into such different music,? she tells MTV. ?In fifth grade, I was obsessed with Green Day and was always going to punk shows, getting in the pit and gettin’ dirty.”

MTV is planning to shoot a reality series about Ashlee. They already have a successful show with Jessica and her husband Nick Lachey, ?Newlyweds.?
