JS-1, who was recently induced into the Rocksteady crew, and Dub-L produce the album, featuring 23 new tracks (even the back of the album stresses “this is not a mixtape?”). The album is an opportunity for these artists to show off their mic skills.

“Essentials” features Rahzel of the Roots showing off his impressive beat-boxing abilities and Krs-One demonstrating why he is considered one of rap’s most influential artists. Is this the time for Krs to make a huge come back? “Time again for the rhyme again, for the real MC to shine again,” he raps on the song.

Kool G Rap appears on “Take a Loss,” rapping about paying dues in hip-hop. Others featured on the album include Evidence, Royce Da 5′9”, Masta Ace, and Dice Raw.
