CD Review: A Static Lullaby - “…And Don’t Forget to Breathe”
Don?t listen to A Static Lullaby’s “?And Don?t Forget to Breathe” before you go to bed. You probably shouldn’t listen to it on a full stomach, if you’re pregnant, or if you easily get migraines. And don’t play this album in front of your parents, or you’ll get the “what is that noise?” complaints.
They call the first song “Nightmares Win 6-0″ for a good reason. From the screeching beginning until the yells and static at the end, this song is the devil’s audible paradise.
“Withered” combines the styles of a Linkin-Park anthem with the patented System of a Down approach to create an interesting hard-rock sound with those nightmarish yells.
The best thing the band has to offer is “The Shooting Stars that Destroyed Us,” which is the most coherent song on the album. It’s not completely understandable, but it’s the best you’re going to get. It’s the closest they come to stepping away from the “yell and scream” format to actually creating something listenable.
