ABC to Continue 8 Simple Rules
ABC announced it will continue “8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter,” the show which was centered on John Ritter’s character.
Before Ritter died last Thursday, three episodes for the upcoming season were filmed. The season premiere will go ahead as scheduled next Tuesday. After the three episodes air, which will each start with a special introduction with the cast members, ABC will air reruns while they restructure the show.
“We are going to stick with it,” Susan Lyne, president of ABC Entertainment, said in a conference call Tuesday.
When they begin filming again, the show will deal with the death of Ritter’s character, Paul Hennessy, the father.
“Future episodes will take viewers into the Hennessy household as they experience the loss of a father and construct a new life together,” said Lloyd Braun, chairman of the ABC Entertainment Television Group. “We will play out the situation as real life.”
