If you own an iPod, you already know it?s the best portable MP3 player out there. But, what if there was a peripheral that could make your iPod become the final touch to creating the ultimate home entertainment system?

The Ultimate Home Entertainment System
Ten Technology?s NaviPod fills that void with their infrared remote control unit. Now you can easily integrate your iPod into your home stereo and control it form anywhere in the room.

The infrared sensor attaches to the top of your iPod through the firewire and headphone jack, so it can feed off the iPod?s battery. The unit also includes an extra firewire port (and audio out port) so you can charge the iPod while it plays.

The Remote
The NaviPod?s remote is a saucer shaped design that runs on 1 Lithium CR2032 battery and features the same controls as Apple?s wired remote. The obvious flaw here is that it?s missing the menu button. However, this has to do with the way Apple designed the iPod?s remote capabilities.

We found, that while the NaviPod shipped with its own stand, the Habitat stand proved to do a better job, as it kept the iPod from touching the surface (we already know how easily the iPod can scratch).

Final Word
Ten Technology?s NaviPod is currently the only wireless remote available as of this review and it was a much needed addition. For only CAD$69.95, you now have the ability to truly make your iPod the center of your digital lifestyle.
