Apple Computer today introduced 2 new iPod models, featuring a 20GB and 40GB hard drive that can hold up to 10 000 CD quality songs.

The new iPods feature a brand new enclosure that is lighter and thinner than 2 CDs. Apple’s iPod line is now available in 3 different models:

10GB – US$299
20GB – US$399
40GB – US$399

“iPod is the best-selling digital music player and the ‘gold standard’ to which all portable music players are compared,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “The iPod and the iTunes Music Store offer music lovers an unbeatable combination that our competitors can’t even come close to.”

The iPod features both Firewire and USB 2.0, support for Mac and Windows PCs,”On-The-Go” playlists, a rechargeable 8 hour lithium-ion battery and NO movable parts.

The new models are available today from the Apple store or from any Apple retailer (Apple Store).

In other related news, Apple’s iTunes Music Store has sold over 10 million songs since it’s launch 4 months ago.

Canadian artist, Avril Lavigne, was the lucky artist who had her song purchased at and downloaded at 11:34 p.m. (PDT) on September 3.
