Mikey Bustos, the contestant andPOP picked to win, and Tyler Hamilton were eliminated Tuesday from Canadian Idol.

A record 1.8 million people voted for the six other participants: Toya Alexis, Gary Beals, Jenny Gear, Ryan Malcolm, and Audrey de Montigny. From now on, one person will be eliminated each week.

Mariah Carey made a special appearance, as the 8 singers visited the diva following her concert in Toronto the week before.

The Temptations performed on the Monday night performance show, which was a Motown theme.

Other Idol notes:
-the 6 remaining singers were supposed to perform at The Ex Saturday, but now their concert is in jeopardy as the Ex will not open until Monday
-”Canadian Idol Greatest Moments,” featuring the top 11 finalists, will be released August 26. The CD will feature a studio recorded performance by each singer.
-Canadian Idol clothing will be available at Wal-Mart stores beginning August 17
