Sean Paul appeared in a Jamaican court Monday to plead guilty to using obscenities on stage at his performance in Montego Bay last month. He was fined $34.

Two days after the incident, he pleased guilty via his lawyer. The judge instructed Paul to appear in person or risk jail time.

“I promise that this won’t happen again so I do not have to come again to waste the court’s time,” he told the judge, according to Paul’s spokesperson, reports MTV.

Police warned the event’s organizers that profanity would be prohibited.
