Ruben Studdard is looking for a new area code. The American Idol winner filed a lawsuit Wednesday with the clothing manufacturer, 205 Flava Inc., which made his 205 jerseys that he wore during the show and he filed lawsuit Wednesday.
He alleges that the company wrongfully profited from his image. He is seeking an injunction to stop the unauthorized use of his image.
The lawsuit estimates the company made $2 million in sales because of Studdard’s image.
Birmingham attorney LaVeeda Battle, who has done work for the company, said the claims are untrue.
“They have bent over backwards to help him, and they are really disappointed in his conduct at this point,” she told The Birmingham News.
