CD Review: Play – Replay
CD Review: Play – Replay
The girls from Play are no Destiny’s Child but they are managed by Matthew Knowles, Beyonce’s father. With a link like that, they are sure to be showing up everywhere, like last month at Beyonce’s Pay Per View concert.
Their album, “Replay,” is not all that impressive. Naming one of their songs “11 out of 10″ is just wishful thinking. There is little unique about these girls, good luck finding anything unique anymore.
The club-banging “Hot,” which sounds a lot like R. Kelly’s “Fiesta,” is not entirely bad.
But then there’s and a remake of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” which is as bad as some of the tryouts on American Idol. Simon would have a field day; not only on that karaoke-like song but on the whole album.
