Beanie Sigel Charged with Attempted Murder
Roc-A-Fella rapper Beanie Sigel was arrested and charged with attempted murder after turning himself into police Thursday in Philadelphia. He was released on bail Saturday.
He surrendered at 11:15 PM, according to MTV, just after performing with Jay-Z on his Rock the Mic tour. Surprisingly, his mother and lawyer negotiated with police to allow Sigel to perform that night before turning himself in.
On Tuesday, he allegedly fired six shots from a silver 9 mm at Terrence Speller, 26, in front of a bar. Police say one shot hit the man in the stomach and another hit him in the foot.
Witnesses told police that the man shook hands with Sigel shortly before the incident. He was listed in critical condition but is expected to recover, police said. Sigel’s attorney, Fortunato Perri Jr., said his client denied any involvement in the shooting, the Associated Press reports.
Sigel also faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and possession of a criminal instrument, MTV reports.
