Solange to Join Destiny’s Child?
Mathew Knowles, the manager of Destiny’s Child and father of Beyonce, told the LA Times this week that Destiny’s Child will add a fourth member when they begin recording as a group again next year.
He later told MTV that the artist he is considering is his other daughter, Solange, who released a solo album earlier this year.
Solange was a temporary member of the group in 2000, when Kelly Rowland broke two toes. She has also opened for the group, and collaborated with her sister and Rowland on their solo projects.
Mathew Knowles said he threw the idea out to see what kind of reaction he would get. “Judging by what I’ve heard, it seems like a good idea,” he told MTV.
The group has lost three members in the past. Solange would be the seventh singer to become a member of Destiny’s Child.
Before Destiny’s Child regroups, with or without Solange, the girls will be busy. Solange is recording her second solo album, which will include a duet with Bow Wow. Group member Michelle Williams will also record a second solo album. Rowland is starring in the upcoming “Freddy vs. Jason” movie, while Beyonce will continue promoting her solo album.
So when will the girls get back together? While they are all eager to record together again, Beyonce says it won’t be until September of next year. Her father says it could be early next year.
