Canadian Artists Rally for Toronto
Avril Lavigne, Sarah McLachlan, Barenaked Ladies, Tragically Hip, Sum 41, Our Lady Peace, Glenn Lewis, and Remy Shand have signed on to perform at a concert in Toronto help boost the city’s morale and reputation as a safe place to visit. Toronto was hit hard by SARS and the tourism sector has suffered.
The 6-hour concert will be held at SkyDome and the Air Canada Centre on June 21, the night before the MuchMusic Vide Awards. Tickets will be available starting tomorrow through TicketMaster, priced between $19.50 and $29.50.
The Ontario government, ClearChannel Entertainment, and Roots are supporting the concert.
Shania Twain and Neil Young are rumoured to be added to the bill. Jim Carrey and Mike Myers are other names being thrown about as possible guests.
