Listening to the Isley Brothers’ “Body Kiss,” I almost felt obligated to like it. It debuted on the charts at number one, it’s getting some good reviews, and R. Kelly produced, wrote, and arranged almost every song. But I just couldn’t get into it.

It’s not a horrible album, but the songs blend together if you lose focus, which Ronald’s voice will have you do. The album is not for everyone, and if you’ve enjoyed past Isley material, you may not necessarily enjoy this.

The album is worth a listen to, even if just for “Busted,” featuring the very talented female vocals of JS. Perhaps it’s a little awkward to hear an older man and a young lady spit lines back and forth, no matter what the lyrics are, but they pull it off.
