CD Review: Animatrix Soundtrack
The soundtrack for the Animatrix doesn’t stand well without accompanying the movie.
The Animatrix is a collection of nine short films from the creators of The Matrix Trilogy, Larry and Andy Wachowski. They commissioned seven artists from Japan, America and Korea to create the films.
This soundtrack doesn’t really begin until the fourth song. The first three tracks (”Who Am I” by Peace Orchestra, “Big Wednesday” by Freeland, and “Blind Tiger” by Layo and Bushwacka) are boring, with either no or little excitement. They might be fine for a movie but not for this soundtrack.
The fourth track, “Under the Gun” by Supreme Beings of Leisure finally is a song with depth and some mystery. Fortunately it remains intriguing all the way until the end. It’s not perfect, and watching this with visuals would enhance the appreciation for the music, but it’s still adequate on its own.
