Jesse Harris is best known for winning the Song of the Year Grammy for Norah Jones’ “Don’t Know Why.” Now Harris hopes to gain some recognition for his own singing, with his most recent album along with his band, The Ferdinandos, “The Secret Sun.”

Harris does not come close to matching Jones’ soothing voice. His voice is annoying, sometimes painful to listen to. His long hums on the title track make it sound like he is hurt.

That should not take away from his song writing ability. He is somewhat of a genius when it comes to penning lyrics. Too bad his voice does not match his writing.

Jones does appear on the album, playing piano and performing a duet with Harris on “What Makes You.” It shows why Harris won the Grammy for his writing, while Jones won for her singing.
